A Fascinating History
The Rockingham Arms in Canada, Hampshire, began life in the 19th century as a Wesleyan Methodist chapel, serving the quiet hamlet on the edge of the New Forest. It later became a private dwelling before being transformed into a pub in 2014 by Upham Brewery, who saw promise in its character and countryside setting.
The name pays tribute to the Rockingham Forest and the Marquess of Rockingham, evoking nobility and tradition. Today, the building’s chapel bones still echo beneath its timber beams, history, comfort, and community blended into one.
